Who must post the Novato, CA Minimum Wage Poster?
Every employer must post in a conspicuous place at any workplace or job site where any employee works the City’s current notice announcing the adjusted minimum wage rate for the upcoming 12-month period. (Muni. Code § 2-30.9) The Novato, CA Minimum Wage Poster must be posted in English, Spanish and such other languages as regulations may require. Employers are also required to give written notification to each current employee and to each new employee at time of hire, of his or her rights under the Minimum Wage Ordinance. The notification shall be in all languages spoken by more than ten percent of the employer’s employees. The Novato, CA Minimum Wage Poster is in a bilingual (English/Spanish) format.

Who is covered?
The minimum wage rate applies to any employee who performs at least two hours of work in a particular week within the geographic boundaries of the City of Novato.
What are the planned increases in the minimum wage rate?
The City’s first minimum wage rate went into effect on July 1, 2020. The minimum wage rate is adjusted for inflation each January 1. Starting January 1, 2025, the minimum wage within Novato city limits will increase based on business size to:
- $17.27 per hour for very large businesses with 100 or more employees (adjusted based on CPI-W);
- $17.00 per hour for large businesses with 26-99 employees; and
- $16.42 per hour for small businesses with 1-25 employees.
How are employees protected?
Employees who assert their rights are protected from retaliation and may file a civil action against their employers for violations of the City’s Minimum Wage Ordinance #1653. (Muni.
