The Tennessee Wage Regulations/Child Labor Poster informs employees of state laws governing pay days, rest period requirements, equal pay, and the employment of minors. Employers are required to provide notice of the establishment’s regular paydays in the space provided.
What Changed?
The posting’s Wage Regulations Act section has been updated to clarify that employees must receive a 30-minute unpaid rest break or meal period if scheduled to work six hours consecutively, except adult employees in workplace environments that by the nature of business provide for ample opportunity to rest or take an appropriate break. The Child Labor Act section has also been revised to reflect the following amendments to the law:
- A minor who is 15 years of age or younger cannot be employed where the average monthly gross receipts from the sale of intoxicating beverages exceed 25% of the total gross receipts of the place of employment or where a minor will be permitted to take orders for or serve intoxicating beverages.
- A minor who is 16 or 17 years of age may be employed where the average monthly gross receipts from the sale of intoxicating beverages exceed 25% of the total gross receipts of the place of employment if the minor is not permitted to take orders for or serve intoxicating beverages.
The new revision date is May 2024.
