The Tennessee Fair Housing Poster informs provides information on housing discrimination, which is prohibited under the Tennessee Human Rights Act. It also provides contact information for the Tennessee Human Rights Commission.
In Tennessee it is illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental, advertisement, terms and conditions, and financing of housing and commercial property based on a person’s race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, disability, or familial status.
Posting Requirement
Every real estate broker, salesperson or operator, and every financial institution subject to the Tennessee Human Rights Act and Disability Act is required to post and maintain the Tennessee Fair Housing Poster at their establishments. It must be posted conspicuously in areas frequented by residents and individuals seeking housing opportunities. (Rules of Human Rights Commission, 1500-01-02-.01[15 – 16])
Individuals who employ eight or more persons within the state are also required to post the Discrimination in Employment posting, which is included on the Tennessee All-On-One™ Labor Law Poster.
