Under Texas’ Firearm Carry Act of 2021, individuals can carry firearms in public without a license if they are not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a gun. Private businesses and property owners can prohibit individuals from carrying a firearm on their premises. Private businesses and property owners must post signs to indicate entry on the property with a firearm is forbidden. The signs must include language described in Section 30.05 of the Texas Penal Code, be in English and Spanish, and appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height.
Hospitals, polling places, racetracks, airports, amusement parks, and government meeting rooms may also post signs to indicate entry on the property with a firearm is forbidden. The sign must include language described in Section 46.03 of the Texas Penal Code, be in English and Spanish, and appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height.
