Under enacted House Bill 435, volunteer emergency services personnel with a license to carry a handgun are allowed to carry a handgun while on duty. State hospitals may post signs to indicate entry on the property with a handgun by a license holder is forbidden. The sign must include text from section 552.002 of the Health and Safety Code, in both English and Spanish, and appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height.
