Consumers have the right to file a complaint against mortgage related companies and individuals doing business in Texas if they feel that they have been wronged in any way regarding their financial dealings and/or transactions.
The Texas Complaint/Recovery Fund Notice provides:
- Contact information for the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
- Instructions on how to file a complaint against a company or a residential mortgage loan originator
- Instructions on how to file a recovery fund claim for out of pocket damages caused by the acts of licensed residential mortgage loan originators that violate specific provisions of Texas Finance Code, Chapter 156, the Residential Mortgage Loan Company and Residential Mortgage Loan Originator Licensing and Registration Act or Chapter 157, the Mortgage Banker Registration and Residential Mortgage Loan Originator Act
Posting Requirements
Texas Mortgage Bankers and Residential Mortgage Loan Originators are required to post the Complaint/Recovery Fund Notice at each office, and on its website (TAC §80.200).
