Rhode Island’s Minimum Wage Increases January 2013

Labor Law Compliance Alert!

Rhode Island minimum wage earners will see a bump up in their paychecks starting January 1, 2013. For the past 6 years Rhode Island’s minimum wage was $7.40 per hour. During the 2012 legislative session Governor Lincoln Chafee signed a bill raising the wage rate by 35 cents to $7.75 per hour.

There are bills to raise the minimum wage in three other states; Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, but these have not been signed into law. There are a number of states that will experience increases in their minimum wage rate for 2013 based on changes in the Consumer Price Index.  They include Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, San Francisco California, Santa Fe New Mexico, and Vermont.

Employers must display the new minimum wage posters which have been updated on CPC’s State and Federal All-On-One posters, except for San Francisco California and Santa Fe New Mexico, which are separate products. For these and other states changes visit our homepage at www.complianceposter.com
