The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced the four (4) winners of its latest app challenge, the “Worker Safety and Health App Challenge”. These new tools demonstrate the importance of recognizing and preventing workplace safety and health hazards. They also help young people understand their rights in the workplace.
The winners of the challenge are:
- Working Safely Is No Accident: This website has an interactive game designed for workers, primarily ages 13-24, to raise awareness and offer tips to avoid common workplace hazards, and educate youths about workers’ rights and safety.
- USW Chemical Safety: This application allows users to search an MSDS database for information on hazardous substance exposure limits, health hazards, workplace controls, handling and storage, personal protective equipment, and emergency procedures.
- No Jack: This is an edgy, youth-focused website designed to educate workers ages 16-24 and their employers about workers’ rights to a safe and healthful workplace.
- The Ergonomics iOS App: This app is a complete mobile workplace health tool with ergonomic equipment setup advice, stretching exercises and programmable reminders to help time breaks and prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
