Maine Department of Labor Offering Free Workplace Safety Classes

To encourage a safe workplace, the Maine Department of Labor is offering free safety courses for employers in the month of November. Courses will be held at the SafetyWorks! Training Institute. SafetyWorks! is an outreach program created by the Maine Department of Labor to reduce job-related injuries, illnesses and deaths. Services are provided by safety engineers and industrial hygienists with experience working with diverse industries.

The courses were designed to reduce and prevent injuries in the workplace. The courses will give information on several OSHA standards, recording and reporting work-related injuries and illnesses, and evaluating confined spaces.

List of upcoming courses:

  • 10-Hour Construction Standards Training: November 6-7, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Video Display Terminal-Train the Trainer: November 13, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Forklift Operator Training: November 14, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • OSHA Recordkeeping: November 17, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • 10-Hour General Industry Standards Training: November 18-19, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Public Sector Work Zone Safety: November 20, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Confined Space Entry: November 21, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
