Maine Department of Labor Offering Free Workplace Safety Classes

To ensure and promote workplace safety, the Maine Department of Labor is offering once again free safety classes in the month of March. The courses will be held at the SafetyWorks! Training Institution in Augusta.

According to SafetyWorks! the program trains approximately 8,000 individuals annually.  The program which provides consultation and enforcement services, is offering these courses to achieve compliance among businesses in the state of Maine.

List of upcoming classes:

  • Silica Awareness: March 2, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Combustible Dust Safety Training: March 3, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • 10-Hour General Industry Standards: March 4-5, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (1st day)and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (2nd day)
  • Ladder Safety: March 6, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (different location)
  • Forklift Operator Training: March 9, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Mine safety and Health Administration: March 10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Accident Investigation/Injury Analysis: March 13, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (different location)
  • 30-Hour Construction Standards: March 16-20, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • 10-Hour Construction Standards: March 23-24, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (1st day) and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (2nd day)
  • OSHA Recordkeeping: March 26, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration: March 31, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (different location)
