What changed?
The 2020 Your Rights Under Illinois Employment Laws posting reflects current and future minimum wage rate increases:
 
Effective date Minimum wage rate
Jan. 1, 2020 $9.25 per hour
July 1, 2020 $10.00 per hour
Jan. 1, 2021 $11.00 per hour
Jan. 1, 2022 $12.00 per hour
Jan. 1, 2023 $13.00 per hour
Jan. 1, 2024 $14.00 per hour
Jan. 1, 2025 $15.00 per hour


What else is new?

  • Minimum Wage Law – Domestic workers are covered by the Minimum Wage Law.
  • Wage Payment and Collection Act – Employees must be reimbursed for all necessary expenditures incurred in the scope of employment. 
  • Equal Pay Act –
    • Employers are prohibited from asking applicants’ wage histories
    • Employees are permitted to discuss their own wages with coworkers
    • An employer may not pay an African American employee less than a non-African American employee for similar work
