What’s changed?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government has expanded the availability of unemployment compensation. President Trump signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which among many things, appropriated $1 billion in federal funds for unemployment compensation. To receive funds, the states must require employers to provide notification of the availability of unemployment compensation to employees at the time of separation. Texas has revised its mandatory Unemployment and Pay Day Law posting to include the required information.
The posting also reflects the following updates:
  • New Workforce Commission logo
  • New web link for claim assistance
  • Web link to submit claims has been updated
  • Individuals whose work hours have been reduced may be able to qualify for unemployment insurance benefits
  • Individuals must provide their full legal name and social security number or authorization to work when filing a claim
  • New posting date
Who must post?
Every employer subject to the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act must post the Unemployment and Pay Day Law posting in a conspicuous and accessible place in or about the premises where a covered employee is employed. (Texas Labor Code, Sec. 208.001(b))
