What’s new?

Minimum Wage
The posting has been revised with new minimum wage rates effective January 1, 2023:

  • General minimum wage rate: $13.80 per hour
  • Direct cash wage rate for service employees: $6.90 per hour
  • Salary threshold for overtime exemption: $796.17 per week

Regulation of Employment

The posting has been revised to reflect recent amendments to the Cessation of Employment Law. Beginning January 1, 2023, all unused paid vacation time that had accrued must be paid to the employee on their next scheduled pay day after employment ends. The law applies to private employers with more than 11 employees.

Who must post?
  • Every employer in Maine is required to post the Minimum Wage and Regulation of Employment postings in a conspicuous place on or about the premises where employees are employed. (MRSA Title 26, Section 42-B)
  • Every employer who has 15 or more employees is required to post the Federal Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal in a place where it can be seen by employees and applicants. (42 USC 2000e-10)
