Compliance Alert! New Yorkers will see an increase in their paychecks in 2013. The governor of New York has signed a comprehensive budget bill into law that includes provisions for minimum wage increases. Every employer must pay to each of its employees for each hour worked a wage of not less than:
- $8.00 per hour on and after December 31, 2013
- $8.75 per hour on and after December 31, 2014
- $9.00 per hour on and after December 31, 2015
The language of the bill indicates that the minimum wage for food service workers and other tipped employees remains unchanged, pending any changes to the Wage Orders governing these classified employees as directed by the NY Department of Labor.
