What’s changed?
The Rules To Be Observed By Employers posting provides information on Nevada’s wage and hour laws. The posting was updated because a new law, the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, added a new category to the list of employees exempt from the overtime provisions of the law.
Under this law, most domestic workers must be paid 1.5 times their regular rate of pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek or 8 in a workday. However, a domestic worker who resides in the household where he or she works may be exempted from overtime requirements if he or she signs a written agreement with the employer.
The Domestic Workers Bill of Rights law went into effect on January 1, 2018, but the Nevada Department of Labor and Industry did not update this posting until August of 2018. The new revision date is 8-03-2018.
Who is required to post?
Although the new exemption only applies to employers of domestic workers, Rules To Be Observed By Employers is a required posting for every employer operating in Nevada.
The law states that every employer of one or more employees must post the printed abstract of the state wage and hour laws provided by the Labor Commissioner (i.e. the Rules To Be Observed By Employers). It must be conspicuously posted on the premises where any person is employed. (N.R.S. 603.013) |
