Consumer Advisory Notice

According to the District of Columbia (D.C.) Department of Health, consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase the risk of contracting a foodborne illness.

All food establishments that serve raw or undercooked animal products must display this Consumer Advisory Notice. The notice informs patrons of the increased risk of foodborne illness associated with consuming these items. The notice must be clearly and prominently posted where it is easily visible and readable to customers before they order. (25 DCMR § 1105) Failure to post this notice is a violation of D.C. health code and may result in penalties.
