Who must post the Louisiana Healthcare Facility Workplace Violence Poster?
As a result of legislation passed in 2022 (House Bill 312), the Louisiana Healthcare Facility Workplace Violence Poster must be posted by:
- licensed healthcare facilities
- federally qualified health centers
- pharmacies
- offices of healthcare providers at which five or more healthcare professionals treat patients
Does the Healthcare Facility Workplace Violence prevention law have specific signage requirements?
The Healthcare Facility Workplace Violence prevention law requires regulated entities to display at least one sign indicating that abuse of or workplace violence against healthcare staff will not be tolerated and could result in a felony conviction under R.S. 14:38 or other applicable criminal laws.
The sign must be:
- posted in a conspicuous location in a publicly accessible area of the regulated entity’s facility,
- at least eighteen inches tall by eighteen inches wide, and
- written in the English language with letters not less than one square inch in size.
What else does the Louisiana Healthcare Facility Workplace Violence prevention law require?
The law requires such facilities to develop and maintain a workplace violence prevention plan that meets specified requirements. The act also prohibits discrimination or retaliation against an employee for reporting an allegation of workplace violence. The law went into effect on August 1, 2022.
