The Tennessee Concealed Firearms Poster informs patrons that possession of firearms is restricted on the premises. Posting this sign indicates that only persons with a valid permit may carry a concealed handgun on the posted premises.
The Tennessee Concealed Firearms Poster cites the Tennessee Code statutes which authorize such restriction and describe concealed carry permit requirements, and warns that violation of this prohibition is a criminal offense which may result in a fine and/or imprisonment. The poster also includes an image of a firearm inside a red “no” circle.
The Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-17-1359, allows an individual, corporation, or business entity to restrict the possession of weapons by any person who is on property owned, operated, managed, or under the control of the prohibiting entity. Notice of this prohibition must be given by posting compliant notices in prominent locations, including all entrances.
Posting Requirement
To restrict the possession of firearms on your property or a portion of your property, you must post the Tennessee Concealed Firearms Poster in prominent locations, including all entrances. The poster must be plainly visible to the average person entering the building, property, or portion of the building or property where firearm possession is restricted.
An individual, corporation, business entity, or government entity which previously prohibited all weapons and now wishes to restrict the carrying of weapons on the premises shall have until January 1, 2019, to replace existing signs with the Tennessee Concealed Firearms Poster.
An individual, corporation, business entity, or government entity that wishes to prohibit the possession of weapons on the premises may instead post the Tennessee No Firearms Poster.
