New OSHA guidlines on combustible dusts

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has released a new guidance publication concerning combustible dusts. It assists chemical manufacturers and importers in recognizing the potential for combustible dust explosions, identifying protective measures, and ways to accurately communicate the information on material safety data sheets and labels.

The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) is designed to ensure that chemical hazards are evaluated and information is conveyed to workers, employees and supervisors. Adequate communication of hazard information is paramount to ensure that both employers and workers are aware of dust related hazards and measures needed to prevent dust explosions.

If combustible dusts exist in your workplace, please take the time to review this document from OSHA that will help ensure your business location is safe.
