Maryland Employers Need to Post Updated Unemployment Notice

Maryland’s Unemployment Insurance notice to Employees (DLLR/OUI 328 Employees Rights Under Maryland’s Unemployment Insurance Law) contains important new contact information, as well as other changes.

Changes to Maryland Unemployment Insurance

  • The notice now identifies the correct office and street/mailing address for complaints of discrimination in the unemployment insurance process. Persons seeking assistance should address related inquiries to the Office of Fair Practices (OFP), the office that administers the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation’s (DLLR) comprehensive Equal Opportunity Program.
  • In addition, Maryland’s 711 relay number for hearing and/or speech impaired callers is now included on the poster, available for each of the three regional service areas.
  • There is also a new posting revision date.

According to the DLLR’s Office of Unemployment Insurance, employers are required to post the new unemployment notice. A representative from the Office of Unemployment Insurance explained that employees must be informed as to which department and where complaints of discrimination in the unemployment process should properly be addressed. By contacting the correct office, claimants can be advised of their rights and responsibilities, the proper claim forms and procedures, and the scope of services provided. This information is especially relevant since employees have a limited amount of time in which to seek relief.
