San Jose California Has a New Minimum Wage

The San Jose California Minimum Wage Ordinance was passed by City of San Jose voters on November 6, 2012.

Effective March 11, 2013 employers that maintain a facility in San Jose or are subject to the San Jose Business Tax are required to display the new San Jose Minimum Wage poster in a conspicuous place where labor law notices for employees are customarily posted. Every employer must post the minimum wage poster in any language spoken by at least 5% of the employees at the workplace or job site. Employers are also required to provide each employee at the time of hire with the employer’s name, address, and telephone number in writing.

Beginning January 1, 201 the San Jose minimum wage will increase by an amount corresponding to the prior year’s Consumer Price Index for urban wage earners and clerical workers for the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose Ca metropolitan statistical area.
