Arkansas has passed a new law requiring private clubs permitted to sell or dispense alcohol beverages, beer, or wine for on-premises consumption to post alcohol-related warning signs. The required warning sign is intended to educate the public concerning the risk of birth defects from drinking alcohol beverages during pregnancy. Signs must be posted in English and Spanish and any other mandated language.
Although the sign requirement does not apply to food service establishments, if you operate a private club such as a country club, professional association, fraternal lodge or other ABC-licensed private club, you will be required to post a compliant warning sign. The law is effective August 17, 2013. The required text should be released soon. Check with us first.
