An alliance between Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) and the Michigan Laborers’ Training and Apprenticeship (MLTAI) was first formed in 2011. The goal of the formal alliance was to provide its members with information regarding workplace health and safety. The alliance currently focuses on individuals who work on energy distribution, renewable energy, home weatherization, building trades and or civil and heavy highway projects.
The renewed alliance was established to continue helping members and participants prevent construction hazards. Both MIOSHA and MLTAI want to expand their outreach to protect workers from injuries and illnesses. The plan is to educate workers by providing hands-on training, simulate jobsite safety inspections, and share information on their websites, among other goals.
