2018 Arizona Minimum Wage Poster Updates
Arizona voters passed Proposition 206, or the Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act, in November of 2016. The law provides employees with earned paid sick leave and sets a series of scheduled increases to the minimum wage starting in January of 2017. Arizona will incrementally raise the state minimum wage to $12.00 per hour by 2020, after which it will rise relative to changes to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures cost of living in the U.S.
Effective January 1, 2018, the minimum wage will increase to $10.50 per hour for non-tipped workers in the state of Arizona. The minimum wage for tipped workers is always set at $3.00 less than the general minimum wage, so in 2018 it will be set at $7.50 per hour.
The 2018 Arizona Minimum Wage Poster must be conspicuously posted by every employer operating in the state of Arizona, except those exempt from the Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act. Businesses are exempt if they gross less than $500,000 in annual revenue. (Arizona Revised Statutes, Sec. 23-364(D)) The 2017 poster should remain posted until December 31, 2017 and be replaced by the 2018 Arizona Minimum Wage Poster on January 1.

2018 Flagstaff Minimum Wage Poster Update
Employers with one or more employees who work 25+ hours in the City of Flagstaff are required to post the 2018 Flagstaff Minimum Wage Poster in addition to the state and federal minimum wage posters. Effective January 1, 2018, the municipal minimum wage for non-tipped workers will increase to $11.00 for each hour worked within the city.
This is the second increase that employers operating in the city have faced in the past six months. In November of 2016, voters in the city passed Proposition 414, a minimum wage ordinance originally intended to raise minimum wage for workers in the city to $15 by the year 2021, with the additional requirement that the municipal minimum wage be set $2.00 above the state minimum wage. (The Flagstaff City Council has since revised this requirement; click here for more information on Flagstaff’s current minimum wage schedule.) The ordinance went into effect in July of 2017, but future increases are scheduled for January 1 of every year.
The 2018 Flagstaff Minimum Wage Poster displays the new wage rate and the time period during which it will be in effect. It also provides information on who is covered, employee rights – including a new requirement that employees be provided written notification of their rights under the law. The poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place at any workplace or job site where a covered employee works. It must be posted in both English and Spanish, and in any language spoken by more than 5% of the employer’s workforce within the city.
CPC currently provides the Flagstaff Minimum Wage Poster in a bilingual format; please speak to a Compliance Advisor at 1-800-817-7678 if you require additional language formats.
