Update Maine Workers’ Compensation Posting
|
What’s changed?
The Maine legislature passed House Bill 561 during the 2019 legislative session. The new law raises the time limit for employees to notify employers of a work-related injury. Effective January 1, 2020, employees have 60 days to notify their employers about an injury. Previously, employees only had 30 days to notify their employers.
The Maine Workers’ Compensation posting has been revised to reflect the new time limit and a new TTY phone number. The revision date on the posting has been changed to 01/2020.
Who must post?
All employers subject to Maine’s Workers’ Compensation Act of 1992 are required to conspicuously display the Maine Workers’ Compensation posting in a place that is accessible to employees. (39-A MRSA §406)
