What’s new?
The New Mexico Minimum Wage posting has been updated to reflect an increase in the state minimum wage effective January 1, 2022:
- Minimum wage rate – $11.50 per hour
- Tipped employee minimum wage rate – $2.80 per hour
The posting also includes updated information about:
- Tip Pooling – Permitted only among wait staff
- Students and Minors – New Mexico minimum wage rates apply to all employees, regardless of their age or student status
- Local Minimum Wage – Identifies jurisdictions with higher minimum wages and tipped minimum wages
Who must post?
Every employer subject to the Minimum Wage Act is required to display the New Mexico Minimum Wage posting showing the current minimum wage rate, in a conspicuous location of the employer’s premises where employees are employed. (NMSA § 50-4-25)
