What’s new? Your Rights Under Illinois Employment Laws updated to reflect:
the increase in the Illinois minimum wage rate to $12.00 per hour effective January 1, 2022
extension of the Victims’ Economic Security and Safety Act leave to employees who are victims of crimes of violence, or who have family members who are victims of crimes of violence
updated hotline numbers for information about specific laws enforced by the Illinois Department of Labor
Victims’ Economic Security and Safety Act (VESSA) updated to reflect amendments effective January 1, 2022:
expanding VESSA leave to employees who are victims of crimes of violence, or employees with family or household members who are victims of crimes of violence
giving the employee the right to choose which certification document to provide to an employer to certify the leave
prohibiting an employer from requiring more than one document per year to certify leave requested or taken for reasons related to the same incident or perpetrator of violence
Who must post?
Employers are required to post the Your Rights Under Illinois Employment Laws notice in a conspicuous and accessible location of the business premises where covered employees are employed. (820 ILCS 105/9)
Employers are required to post and keep posted the Victims’ Economic Security and Safety Act notice in a conspicuous location of the business premises where employee notices are customarily posted. (820 ILCS 180/40)
