What’s new?
California AB 172 was signed into law on September 29, 2022, extending California 2022 COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SPSL) until December 31, 2022.
What can SPSL be used for?
Up to 40 hours of SPSL is available for:
- Employee Self-Care: The employee is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or is subject to a COVID-19 quarantine or isolation period.
- Caring for a Family Member: The family member is subject to a COVID-19 quarantine or isolation period, or the employee’s child’s school/place of care is closed due to COVID-19.
- Vaccine-Related: The employee is attending an appointment for the employee or a family member to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination or booster, or to recover from vaccination-related symptoms.
What can additional SPSL be used for?
Up to 40 hours of additional SPSL is available when:
- The employee tests positive for COVID-19; or
- The employee is caring for a family member who tests positive for COVID-19.
Who must post?
California employers with more than 25 employees. (Lab. Code § 248.6(d)). |
