What’s New?
On June 24, 2025, Rhode Island enacted a law (HB 6161) amending the Fair Employment Practices Act. The law prohibits employers from discriminating against applicants and employees because of their menopause symptoms.
Employers with four or more employees must provide reasonable accommodations for menopause and related conditions, including the need to manage vasomotor symptoms. The Pregnancy Discrimination posting, also known as “Notice of Right to be Free from Discrimination because of Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Related Conditions,” has been revised to reflect this change in the law.
Who Must Post?
Every employer subject to the Fair Employment Practices Act must post the Pregnancy Discrimination posting in a conspicuous place where notices to employees are usually posted. (RI Gen. Laws § 28-5-37) |
