Boston Bound: Compliance Poster Company’s Research Staff Interviews One of their Own on Qualifying for the 2014 Boston Marathon
Recently two of CPC’s Legal Research & Compliance Department team members sat down with CPC’s Sales Manager to discuss his recent accomplishment.
Carrie Dingler: How are you feeling Sean?
Sean Viramontez: On top of the world, thank you!
Kathy White: So Sean tell us…what makes the Boston run so special?
Sean Viramontez: The Boston Marathon is the Granddaddy of all marathons worldwide. Held on Patriots Day every third Monday beginning in 1897 with only 18 participants now averages over 20,000-26,000 runners every year. This is the world’s oldest marathon and ranks as the top road racing event. Runners from all over the world partake in the Boston marathon each year. Over ½ million spectators jam the streets of Boston, making this the top spectator event every year in Boston.
Carrie Dingler: We know you love to run Sean, so running the Boston Marathon is a highlight in your running career?
Sean Viramontez: Yes. Every serious runner has several goals and accomplishments and truly loves the pure joy & bliss of running. Each of us set out every year with “key” races to set a PR (Personal Record). These races fill our resume with many stories. Having a running resume filled with many great running events, accomplishment, etc. is wonderful. However one event stands out from the rest the “BOSTON MARATHON” this is a “MUST” have in your running resume!
Kathy White: How do you qualify the event?
Sean Viramontez: First things first: Qualify for the Boston Marathon under the strict BAA (Boston Athletic Association) finish time, age group standards/guidelines. Well the great news is I have qualified, “step one” is complete and step two is in the near future April 2014. I’m all “smiles” and I look forward to the big dance in Boston. Then the next step: Participating in the “Holy Grail” event!
Carrie Dingler: Sean did you have a support system over the years?
Sean Viramontez: Yes. The road to Boston, while very challenging and many obstacles to hurdle over I must say it was all worth it. My Family & Friends support along with my co-worker support and with God’s grace helped me accomplish this goal. My sponsor and CFO of Compliance Poster Company Mike Blum said it best, “We may accomplish our goals and reach the finish line but never forget the journey that got us to this point”.
Kathy White: Given the tragedy that happened at the 2013 Boston Race what are your thoughts going into the race next year?
Sean Viramontez: The events that took place this past April in Boston tug at my heart every day. This is felt most especially when I set out for a run. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those out on course and spectators that cheered on their loved ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Carrie Dingler: Would you agree that life is not a destination, but a journey to be savored?
Sean Viramontez: Yes. I will never forget the journey now and will not forget after this amazing race. May the journey continue….cheers to Boston!
Kathy White: Thanks Sean for speaking with us today. You have the support of CPC’s President Patty Blum, CFO Mike Blum and the entire CPC gang!
