In many states, employers must comply with State Wage Orders in addition to general labor and occupational safety laws. These orders establish detailed standards related to wages, hours, and working conditions specific to particular industries. Failure to comply with these requirements can result in penalties and legal action.
California Wage Orders (“IWC”s)
All California employers must post the Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Order specific to their industry or occupation group, in addition to the General Minimum Wage Order, in conspicuous areas frequented by employees. (Labor Code § 1183(d))
