Employers will find more than just a change in the minimum wage rate on Ohio’s 2013 Minimum Wage notice. There are several other changes that provide guidance in applying the state’s minimum wage laws.

New on the 2013 notice:

  • Non-tipped employees’ minimum wage rate increase to $7.85 per hour (up 15 cents over the 2012 rate)
  • Tipped employees’ minimum wage rate increase to $3.93 per hour, plus tips (up 8 cents over the 2012 rate)
  • For employers electing to use the tip credit, an updated explanation of how the tip credit is combined with direct or cash wages
  • Increase in employers’ gross earnings limit to $288,000.00, below which the lower federal minimum wage rate may apply (up $5,000.00 over the 2012 limit)
  • Several new examples of the types of occupations and employees to which the minimum wage rate does not apply (exemptions)
