The Oklahoma Office of Civil Rights Enforcement has updated the state’s Discrimination Law posting. “Genetic information” has been added as a class protected from employment discrimination. This change comes from Oklahoma Senate Bill 837, passed in 2011.
The law applies to public and private employers, labor organizations and employment agencies. The law protects employees and applicants from discriminatory practices hiring, firing, pay or other terms, conditions, privileges or responsibilities of employment based on an individual’s genetic information.
Employers are required to post this notice in conspicuous places in the workplace. Employers that already have an Oklahoma All-On-One™ poster can comply with a 2013 Oklahoma Discrimination Law Peel ‘N Post. Or, purchase a new 2013 Oklahoma All-On-One State & Federal Labor Law Poster that includes all recent posting changes.
