CAL-OSHA Updates Safety and Health Protection on the Job Poster

Section 18 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 encourages States to develop and operate their own job safety and health programs. OSHA approves and monitors the State plans and also provides up to 50% of an approved plan’s operating costs. California is one of 22 states operating complete State plans where the plans cover both private sector and State and local government employees. There are also five (5) states that operate plans which cover public employees only.

Update to Safety and Health Protection on the Job Poster

The mandatory update to CAL-OSHA’s Safety and Health Protection on the Job poster concerns alignment with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). Information in the Special Rules in Work Around Hazardous Substances section has been updated to provide a common and coherent approach to classifying chemicals and communicating hazard information on labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). This change from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) improves the quality and consistency of hazard information in the workplace. More consistent and easily understandable information on appropriate handling and safe use of hazard chemicals helps to create safer conditions for workers by requiring SDSs to be in a uniform format. Employers must ensure SDSs are readily accessible to employees.

Compliance Poster Company’s (CPC) Legal Research and Compliance Team has updated the California All-On-One™ Labor Law poster with this important change. To bring your current CA All-On-One™ poster into compliance we have our exclusive Peel ‘N Posts available.

The California All-On-One™ Poster is available in English and Spanish. All-On-One™ posters include mandatory state and federal labor law postings. In those instances where it is infeasible to display a poster, such as construction and agricultural sites, KIOSK’s and on-the-road trucks, to name a few, CPC’s Mobile Poster Pak™ fits the bill. The Mobile Poster Pak™, MPP for short, was developed by Founder and CEO of Compliance Poster Company, Patty Blum. Mobile Poster Paks™ keep employers in compliance with labor laws even when faced with non-traditional work site logistics. The California Mobile Poster Pak™ is also available in English and Spanish.
