What’s new?
The Maryland 2023 Minimum Wage and Overtime Law posting has been updated to reflect an adjustment to the minimum wage rate taking effect on January 1, 2024. Next year, the State’s minimum wage will increase to $15.00 per hour for all employers, regardless of size.
Why the change?
The “Fair Wage Act of 2023” (SB 555), enacted on April 11, 2023, accelerates the pace at which Maryland will reach a $15.00 per hour minimum wage. Prior to the Act, large employers were scheduled to reach $15 by January 1, 2025, and small employers were scheduled to reach $15 by July 1, 2026.
Who must post?
Every Maryland employer, regardless of size, is required to keep posted conspicuously in each place of employment the Minimum Wage and Overtime Law posting approved by the Commissioner of the Maryland Department of Labor. (Md. Lab. & Empl. § 3-423) |
