Updated! Discrimination, Minimum Wage, and Paid Sick Leave notices
What’s new?
Minimum Wage
The Minimum Wage notice has been updated with the minimum wage rate effective January 1, 2025. The minimum wage increased to $16.35 per hour. All employers must post the notice in a prominent location in the workplace. (CGS § 31-66)

Discrimination
Changes to the Discrimination notice include amendments to the Human Rights Law prohibiting employers from discriminating against employees and applicants based on:

  • Domestic violence victim status (2022 Senate Bill 5)
  • Expunged criminal history information (2021 Senate Bill 1019)

The notice also includes a QR code linked to the Commission on Human Rights & Opportunities’ complaint form. All employers must display the Discrimination notice in the workplace. (CGS § 46a-54(13))

Paid Sick Leave
The Paid Sick Leave notice reflects significant changes to the Paid Sick Leave Law made by House Bill 5005 (2024). Effective January 1, 2025, employees:
  • Accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked
  • Can use paid sick leave:
    • Starting on the 120th calendar day of employment
    • When the employee’s place of business or a family member’s school or place of care is closed due to a public health emergency
    • When a specified principal has determined that the employee or family member poses a risk due to a communicable disease
Employers with 25 or more employees displaying the notice in a conspicuous location of the workplace are in compliance with employee notification requirements. (CGS § 31-57w)
