Resources for Michigan Veterans
Pursuant to House Bill 5736 (2023-2024), employers with one or more employees are required to display this new posting in the workplace. The posting provides resources available to veterans, including web addresses to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.Minimum Wage and Overtime
The posting has been revised to reflect the following minimum wage rates:
- Effective 2/21/25, $12.48 per hour
- Effective 1/1/26, $13.73 per hour
- Effective 1/1/27, $15.00 per hour
The minimum cash wage for tipped employees will gradually increase from 38% of the full minimum wage to 50% of the regular minimum wage by 2031.
Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA)
Pursuant to House Bill 4002 (2025), effective February 21, 2025, employees will accrue one hour of earned sick time for every 30 hours worked but may not use more than 72 hours of paid earned sick time in a year. Carryover is capped at 40 hours for small businesses (10 or fewer employees) and 72 hours for all other employers, unless the employer selects a higher limit. Small businesses have until October 1, 2025 to comply with ESTA.
Who must post?
- Every Michigan employer must display the Resources for Michigan Veterans posting at the employer’s place of business. (Mich. Comp. Laws § 35.1275)
- Every employer subject to the Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act must display the Minimum Wage and Overtime posting in a conspicuous place in the workplace that is accessible to employees. (Mich. Comp. Laws § 408.417)
- Every employer subject to the Earned Sick Time Act must post the Earned Sick Time Act posting in a conspicuous place that is accessible to employees in English, Spanish, and any language that is the first language spoken by not less than 10% of the employer’s workforce. (Mich. Comp. Laws § 408.968(3))
