What’s New?
The Penalties section of the Unemployment Insurance posting has been updated to reflect changes to the Employment Security Law made by House Bill 247 (2024). Under the law’s expanded fraud disqualification and penalty provisions, a claimant who makes a false statement or who fails to disclose an important fact to receive or increase a benefit will be disqualified:
  • For the remaining benefit year and until the fraud benefits and penalties are repaid, or
  • Ten years have elapsed from the date of disqualification.

Fraud overpayments over $1,000 are considered a crime of theft and will be referred to the District Attorney. The posting date is March 2025.

Who Must Post?

All Louisiana employers with one or more employees must post and maintain the Unemployment Insurance posting in places readily accessible to employees. (R.S. 23:1621)
