What’s New?
Alaska voters approved Ballot Measure 1 in November 2024, raising the minimum wage and establishing paid sick leave effective July 1, 2025.
Minimum Wage
Effective July 1, 2025, the minimum wage will increase from $11.91 per hour to $13.00 per hour. This is the initial phase of a three-year incremental increase. After that, starting January 1, 2028, the minimum wage will be subject to annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Sick Leave
With limited exceptions, all Alaska employers are now required to provide paid sick leave to their employees. This leave can be used for an employee’s or family member’s injury or illness, or to obtain care or legal assistance related to domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
The Summary of Alaska Wage and Hour Act posting has been revised to include the revised minimum wage rate and a new section detailing the new paid leave provisions.
Who Must Post?
Every employer subject to the Alaska Wage and Hour Act is required to post the Summary of Alaska Wage and Hour Act posting in a conspicuous place where employees are employed. (A.S. 23.10.105) |
