What’s new?
The 2025 Work Restrictions for Youth Employees has been updated to reflect significant changes to Indiana’s Youth Employment Law made by House Bill 1093 (2024). The bill repealed the work hour restrictions for 16- and 17-year-old employees effective January 1, 2025, and those restrictions were removed from the posting. Other changes reflected on the updated posting include:
- Employer posting requirements.
- Addition of a QR code for additional youth employment information.
- Notice that prohibited and hazardous occupations under federal law apply to employees younger than 18 years of age.
- Notice that employers with 5 or more employees under the age of 18 must register the minor employees in the Youth Employment System (YES).
Who must post?
Every employer that employs a minor at least 14 years of age and less than 16 years of age must post and keep posted the Work Restrictions for Youth Employees posting in a conspicuous place or in places where notices to employees are customarily posted. (IC 22-2-18.1-22)
