Hotel Workers in Long Beach California Get News of Increase in Minimum Wage
Minimum wage is a highly debated topic with those that support increases and those that feel it hurts businesses. Despite all the hype, voters in three cities (2 of them in California) gave low-wage workers a raise in the minimum wage.
In Albuquerque New Mexico workers will get a raise from $7.50 to $8.50 per hour beginning January 1, 2013. CPC’s Research and Compliance Team will be updating products soon.
Workers in San Jose California, better known as part of the Silicon Valley, will be getting a minimum wage hike from $8.00 to $10.00 per hour. A City minimum wage poster will be required for employers to post in locations for employees to view. Last but not least, in Long Beach California, non-unionized hotels with more than 100 rooms will be required to pay workers at least $13.00 per hour. Long Beach becomes the third California city to raise wages for hotel workers. Long Beach joins Emeryville and workers at Century Boulevard hotels near Los Angeles Airport.
