Effective January 1, 2012 businesses with 20+ employees and non-profits with 50+ employees must post the official 2012 San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO) Labor Law poster.  This poster provides that covered businesses must spend a maximum amount on health care benefits for each of their “covered employees”.  Generally, those employees who work 8 or more hours per week in San Francisco and have been employed for more than 90 days are covered.  The notice specifies the dollar amount for each hour worked that employers must spend for each “covered employee”.

The Health Care Security poster must be posted at every workplace or job site in a language the employee can read, specifically in English, Spanish, Chinese and any other language spoken by at least 5% of the employees at the workplace or job site. CPC’s San Francisco Health Care Security poster, product #05044, features the notice in 6 languages including English, Spanish and Chinese. Although covered employers were required to make minimum expenditures under existing law, the requirement to post the official workplace notice is new for 2012.
