What do Ontario and Prince Edward Island have in common you ask? Minimum wage rates bump up in both provinces beginning June 1, 2014.

In Ontario Canada the minimum wage rate applies to most employees. Check out the handy chart below to determine what rate you should be paying your employees.

Another important change concerns the Accessibility for Ontarians With Disabilities Act. Ontario has accessibility standards in five (5) areas, including customer service, employment, information & communications, transportation and design of public places. Employers have specific responsibilities under the Act some of which are addressed on updated products.

For employees who fall under the Prince Edward Island (PEI) Employment Standards Act, and are not part of a union, the minimum wage rate is important.

The PEI minimum wage rate increases in two steps. On June 1, 2014 the rate increases from $10.00 per hour to $10.20 per hour. Then on October 1, 2014 the minimum wage bumps again to $10.35 per hour.
